Speed Week: Photography by Marcus ThomsonShare This
In a combination of images from Bonneville, Utah and Lake Gairdner in South Australia, Marcus Thomson documents the blinding light, sizzling heat and swirling fumes the motor racers endure in these legendary land-speed time trials.
This exhibition explores the highs and lows in the relationship between the die-hard speed freaks and the arid, unforgiving salt lakes they race on in the seven days a year they call Speed Week.
The contenders are from different sides of the world, and all walks of life, but they have one thing in common – an unquenchable thirst for speed.
Marcus Thomson is a commercial photographer, whose signature lies in industrial, urban and rural landscape photography, and environmental portraiture.
