The Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System Rental Kit, equipped with versatile track ends, is a robust camera dolly platform that smoothly glides on 16 soft polyurethane wheels specifically modified to resist flat spotting.
These wheels, incorporating ABEC-7-rated precision bearings, ensure exceptionally smooth dolly shots. The kit is inclusive of 75, 100, and 150mm bowl adapters and is securely housed in a customized flight case.
The dolly's wheel trucks are designed to pivot, enabling it to traverse both straight and curved tracks, which need to be sourced separately. The recommended track materials include standard-speed rail or Schedule 80 aluminum pipe of a compatible size. The two universal track ends provided accept inch and a quarter pipe (standard speed rail) up to 1.9" O.D. and are compatible with standard Junior stand receivers or 5/8" baby pins. Additionally, a center support is included for extended track runs or when using heavy cameras.
Constructed from aluminum, the dolly platform features a standard Mitchell mount with a 2.75" center hole and a machined keyway. The platform is equipped with six accessory mounting holes— one 3/8" through hole, one 1/4"-20 threaded hole, and one 3/8"-16 threaded hole on each side. The rental kit incorporates a monitor mount with a ball head adapter, and the entire Dana dolly is proudly designed and manufactured in the USA.
The secret behind the Dana dolly's smooth operation lies in its 16 custom machined track wheels. These wheels are meticulously crafted to eliminate the "bounce" common in regular skateboard wheels, ensuring a steady performance. The custom machining process reduces noise and prevents flat spotting even under challenging conditions.
The wheel trucks are designed to swivel on the dolly, facilitating movement on both straight and curved tracks. A felt washer between the dolly platform and wheel trucks helps minimize noise during operation. The included T-Tool, featuring 1/2, 9/16, and 3/8" ends, allows users to adjust the wheel trucks based on their preferences. The Mitchell mount's elongated keyway accommodates nonstandard adapters.
For additional support, track supports are included, fitting into standard Junior stand receivers or 5/8" baby pins. However, it's recommended to use robust baby stands and avoid thin-walled aluminum stands for stability.
