Announcement: SUNSTUDIOS Alexandria closing

We have made the difficult decision to close the doors of SUNSTUDIOS Sydney and the online store from the end of June. We’ve seen increased costs relating to our Alexandria location, which has led to the need to reassess commercial viability. Specific dates concerning the Sydney Studio, Rental, Print and online store services are listed below. 

 

  • Studio Bookings

Studio bookings will largely finish up this Friday 21 June. There are a few sporadic bookings the following week which we will honour. Studios will then officially close on Friday 28 June.

  • Rental items

All rental items are due back this Friday 21 June, unless previously agreed.

  • CPS Services

We are excited to be opening a new Canon Professional Services site in Unit 4B, 1 Joynton Avenue, Zetland. While we move from Alexandria to Zetland there will be some disruption to our services. Urgent repair and onsite sensor cleaning will operate until Thurs 27 June. The CPS desk in Sydney will be closed from Friday 28 June, reopening on Thursday 4 July in our new Zetland location. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Any uncollected repairs will be transferred from Alexandria to Zetland.

  • Retail Sales

Retail sales will also be relocating to the Zetland location. Walk-in sales will close this Friday 21 June at Alexandria and re-open in Zetland on Thursday 4 July. For all urgent sales after Friday 21 June our retail team in South Melbourne will be available to support you.

 

  • Online Store

Any online orders made before Monday 1 July will be processed as normal. From 1 July the online store will no longer be operational.

  • Fine Art Printing Services

Fine art printing services will finish up next Tuesday 25 June. Please contact Selena ASAP if you have work needed to be completed in this timeframe.

 

We appreciate that SUNSTUDIOS plays an important role in Sydney’s photography and videography community and will continue to support and foster this community in new ways.  

 

  • What does this mean for Melbourne clients?  

For those who conduct shoots in our Melbourne studios, they are not impacted by these changes. In fact, our studio operations in Melbourne have expanded with an additional studio recently completed. 

 

We appreciate that SUNSTUDIOS plays an important role in Sydney’s photography and videography community and will continue to support and foster this community in new ways.  

 

We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause. We know SUNSTUDIOS is more than just studios and a rental business, for many people it is a broader community of like-minded creatives, and we fully intend to continue to invest in and foster this community moving forward. You’ll hear more from us on that soon.   

 

More than just a building, SUNSTUDIOS Sydney has been the product of every creative who has worked (or partied) there and its walls can tell the story of so many careers. We'd love to hear your story if you are happy to share it with us by email HERE.
